A New UK Trailer For Sound Of Metal Released

BAFTA winning Sound Of Metal starring Riz Ahmed is currently playing on Amazon Prime. Just under 4 weeks times if everything is great health wise, we’ll finally get back into cinemas which this film will be one of the films you can watch on the big screen.

Today Vertigo Releasing have unveiled a new UK Trailer to remind us why this will be a great choice to see in cinemas. The film follows Ruben (Riz Ahmed) and Lou (Olivia Cooke) live together, traveling gig to gig playing their loud, frenzied music. Ruben, a passionate drummer, suddenly loses his hearing and his world is upended, causing him to struggle with depression sliding into past addictions.

Hearing Ahmed promote the film on radio and podcasts has made me even more fascinated with the film. It’s not just a visual experience it’s going to be a film that will be an audio experience . More respect for the British actor going to lengths to truly experience the hearing difficulties and live like someone who lives day to day.

During a series of adrenaline-fueled one-night gigs, itinerant punk-metal drummer Ruben (Riz Ahmed) begins to experience intermittent hearing loss. When a specialist tells him his condition will rapidly worsen, he thinks his music career — and with it his life — is over. His bandmate and girlfriend Lou (Olivia Cooke) checks the recovering heroin addict into a secluded sober house for the deaf in hopes it will prevent a relapse and help him learn to adapt to his new situation. But after being welcomed into a community that accepts him just as he is, Ruben has to choose between his equilibrium and the drive to reclaim the life he once knew. Utilizing startling, innovative sound design techniques, director Darius Marder takes audiences inside Ruben’s experience to vividly recreate his journey into a rarely examined world.

The film also stars  Lauren Ridloff, Mathieu Amalric, Chris Perfetti, William Xifaras, Shaheem Sanchez, Chelsea Lee, and Jeremy Stone.

Sound Of Metal will be released in UK cinemas from 17th May. All screenings of the film will have open captions.
