Is it modern love or is it failed love? Republic Films have today released the official UK Trailer for Black comedy Rare Beasts written, directed and starring Billie Piper.
The film marks the actress directorial debut which received its world premiere in Critics Week at the Venice Film Festival before going to play the London Film Festival and SXSW last year.
The film tells the story of Many (Piper) a modern woman in crisis. She’s raising her son whilst her parents go through separation, she falls fall a troubled man Pete looking for his own self worth.
Rare Beasts is the dark, funny, failed love story of Mandy and Pete.
Mandy is a modern woman in a crisis. Raising a son, Larch (Toby Woolf) in the midst of a female revolution, mining the pain of her parents’ separation and professionally writing about a love that no longer exists, she falls upon a troubled man, Pete (Leo Bill), who is searching for a sense of worth, belonging and ‘restored’ male identity.

Rare Beasts also stars Toby Woolf, Leo Bill, Kerry Fox, David Thewlis and Lily James. Republic Films are set to give the film an UK and Irish cinema release along with select Digital Platforms from 7th May.
