Jaume Collet-Serra’s 2009 horror thriller Orphan is getting a prequel. That prequel will also have a very familiar face returning, Esther herself, Isabelle Fuhrman.
We’ve known for a little while a prequel was on the cards with the working title of Esther. Now Deadline are reporting Fuhrman’s return and the film will also be called Orphan: First Kill. They also report Julia Styles is also joining the cast.
2009 film starred Peter Sarsgaard and Vera Farmiga as the adoptive parents to Esther. Both suffered tragedy and loss and adopting the ‘9 year old’ Eastern European girl will help them. However as you watch the film not all what it seems, she’s an adult woman with primordial dwarfism masquerading as a nine-year-old. The film received mixed reviews, many horror fans love it and considered a cult hit .
The Boy director William Brent Bell is set to direct the new film which will be based on a script from David Coggeshall. Here’s how Deadline describe the plot of Orphan: First Kill – “Leena Klammer orchestrates a brilliant escape from an Estonian psychiatric facility and travels to America by impersonating the missing daughter of a wealthy family. But Leena’s new life as “Esther” comes with an unexpected wrinkle and pits her against a mother who will protect her family at any cost.”
Fuhrman (who is now 23 years Old) will this time play the young Esther and adult Esther. Will be curious to see if they can pull it off once again. Bell says ‘world Class make-up team and forced perspective shooting’ will help to pull this one off.
Orphan disturbed many with a psychotic child with the unexpected twist, we hope this one can do the same again. Orphan: First Kill doesn’t have a release date confirmed, Dark Castle Entertainment and Entertainment One set to make this one.
