Charlie Hunnam and Jack O’Connell Star in Max Winkler’s gripping drama Jungleland. Today Paramount Pictures announced gritty drama has a confirmed UK release date for later this month.
The film made a big splash at last year’s Toronto Film Festival, scoring itself some impressive reviews. The story of two brothers (Hunnam and O’Connell) whose bond is tested. When one brother (O’Connell) must tread through the underground bare-knuckle boxing to pay off one last debt for a local crime boss.
A trailer was recently released and delivers one emotional gut punch. From the awesome cinematography to the unconventional love story, inspired by a lot of 1970’s male focused dramas. Warrior will be a film that comes to mind here, slower, hypnotic, toxic masculinity.
Directed and co-written by Max Winkler (Flower), JUNGLELAND is a love story between two brothers whose bond is tested as they hustle and scrape towards their slice of the American Dream. Stanley (Charlie Hunnam, “Sons of Anarchy”) and Lion (Jack O’Connell, Unbroken) are brothers struggling to stay relevant in the underground world of bare-knuckle boxing. When Stanley fails to pay back a dangerous crime boss (Jonathan Majors, “Lovecraft Country”), they’re forced to deliver an unexpected traveller (Jessica Barden, “The End of the F***ing World”) as they journey across the country for a high stakes fighting tournament. While Stanley trains Lion for the fight of his life, a series of events threaten to tear the brothers apart, but their love for one another and belief in a better life keep them going in this gripping drama that proves family pulls no punches.
The film also stars Jonathan Majors, Jessica Barden, Fran Kranz, John Cullum, Owen Burke, as well as Meredith Holzman.
Jungleland will be available to Rent as well as Digital HD from 30th November.
