Spanish Auteur Pedro Almodóvar‘s English language feature premiere The Human Voice is getting a UK Cinema Release. Very few filmmaker’s in history have been able to see their short film even make it to the big screen, Almodóvar’s film will and Pathe UK have released the Trailer.
Tilda Swinton stars in this 30 minute film, inspired by the Jean Cocteau’s 1930 play of the same name. A monologue that ticks all the boxes of what you expect from one of his films. The vibrant colours and off course his trademark melodrama the dives deep into existentialism.
We love Almodóvar’s films, we do appreciate this film won’t with everyone. With very few big films not been released in cinemas (that are still opened), what better time to watch something new and different!
Madness and melancholy intersect to thrilling effect as Almodóvar reimagines Jean Cocteau’s short play The Human Voice for an era in which isolation has become a way of life. Laws of desire become the rules of the game as Tilda Swinton’s unnamed woman paces and panics in a glorious Technicolor apartment where décor offers a window into her state of mind. A short, sharp shot of distilled Almodóvar: passion, emotion, heartbreak, wit, and melodrama exquisitely bound up in a tale for our times.
