It’s been 6 years since David Fincher released Gone Girl. He’s finally back with a new movie about a classic movie, Mank and today we get a look at the Official First Trailer!

A movie fully shot in black and white that will transport us back to the golden age of Hollywood, the 1930s. The story behind what is regarded as by some the greatest movie ever, Citizen Kane. Through the eyes of the sociopathic Herman J. Mankiewicz aka Mank, the man who wrote the script.

The honours of playing the character go to Gary Oldman. His struggles with writing the masterpiece script as he fought battles with Orson Welles as well as the booze. A story that has many accounts, whatever one you believe in most, all of them the journey wasn’t smooth.

Whilst nothing against the the great movies, sometimes the background story is even more fascinating. This one looks fantastic plus it has a score from Trent Reznor and Atticus Ross, need I say more!

1930s Hollywood is re-evaluated through the eyes of scathing social critic and alcoholic screenwriter Herman J. Mankiewicz as he races to finish the screenplay of Citizen Kane for Orson Welles.

As ever with Fincher films his cast is impressive, for this one it includes Amanda Seyfried as Marion Davies, Lily Collins as Rita Alexander, Arliss Howard as Louis B. Mayer, Tom Pelphrey, Sam Troughton, Ferdinand Kingsley, Tuppence Middleton, Joseph Cross, Jamie McShane, Toby Leonard Moore, Monika Grossman, Charles Dance, and Tom Burke as Orson Welles.

Mank will release in select UK cinemas in November and on Netflix 4th December.
