Having a pint with your friends or work colleagues might becoming a rarity these day in lockdown. In Mads Mikkelsen‘s world in Another Round, it brings him happiness even if there’s severe consequences awaiting. Studiocanal have now released the UK Trailer and this round is on Mads!
Next month Thomas Vinterberg‘s drama takes a lighter tone than the director’s previous more serious tone films. Regardless of the tone, another chance to see him work with Mikkelsen is enough for us to check this one out.
Another Round(or Druk the film’s Danish title), focuses on four long time friends, all school teachers, all love alcohol. The four friends decide to take part in an experiment where they each of them sustain a certain level of alcohol intoxication during their everyday life. First the experiment is going well, as they continue things take a turn for the worst.

There is an obscure philosophical theory that humans should have been born with a small amount of alcohol in our blood; that modest inebriation opens our minds to the world around us, diminishing problems and increasing creativity. Intrigued, Martin (Mads Mikkelsen) and three of his friends, all weary high school teachers, embark on a risky experiment to maintain a constant level of intoxication throughout the workday. Initial results are positive, but as the units are knocked back and stakes are raised, it becomes increasingly clear that some bold acts carry severe consequences.
The film also stars Thomas Bo Larsen, Lars Ranthe, Magnus Millang and Maria Bonnevie.
Another Round is set to make it’s UK Premiere at BFI London Film Festival from 14th October. It will be shown in various other venues from later dates, find full details here. The film will be released in UK and Irish Cinemas from 20th November.
