We learned a couple of years ago that Three Men And A Baby is set to be remade. It seems Zac Efron is set to star in the remake of the 1987 film for Disney+.
The Hollywood Reporter are reporting this one, a remake of the film that was directed by Star Trek legend Leonard Nimoy. The film starred Tom Selleck, Steve Guttenberg and Ted Danson as our New York bachelors living the dream. Suddenly finding themselves looking after a baby girl called Mary.
A lot of people don’t realise the 1987 film is partially a remake of a French film, the film made over $240 million at the box office. It was the first live action film for Disney to make over $100 million. The 1990 sequel Three Men And A Little Lady reunited the cast sadly not Nimoy resulted in less success.
The film will mark Zac Efron‘s return to Disney, which he gained worldwide success with High School Musical. Since those films Efron has distanced himself away from them to star in the likes of Neighbours, Beach Bum and Ted Bundy film Extremely Wicked, Shockingly Evil and Vile for Netflix.
We have no idea if the new version of the film will be a like for like remake. Or simply modernise for the 21st Century introducing a more multiracial cast or have at least someone from LGBTQ community.
What role he’ll play is too early to tell, same with who may co-star with Efron. Could Danson, Selleck and Guttenberg make an cameo in this one? Will Reichel has written the script for the remake and who will direct is still to be confirmed.
