This film is Kaufman’s first directorial feature since his 2015 Anomalisa film. This one is based on Iain Reid’s acclaimed novel, starring Jessie Buckley as a young woman who travels to her boyfriend Jake’s (Jesse Plemons) family farm. They suddenly find themselves trapped with his parents (Toni Collette and David Thewlis) unsettling things start to happen as she starts to lose grip of reality.
Is it a psychological thriller? Is it a horror? It looks like a film with a lot of hidden meanings with a lot of twists. Why is Buckley’s character not given an name when she’s the lead character? Could we be looking at another Get Out style film? If we do sign us up for this one!
