When it comes to meeting the parents of your partner can be an terrifying experience. Throw in Charlie Kaufman and his new upcoming film I’m Thinking of Ending Things, that experience becomes bizarre even sinister.

Today Netflix the home of his new film have released the film’s Official Trailer. You think you know everything about your other half? Question everything!

This film is Kaufman’s first directorial feature since his 2015 Anomalisa film. This one is based on Iain Reid’s acclaimed novel, starring Jessie Buckley as a young woman who travels to her boyfriend Jake’s (Jesse Plemons) family farm. They suddenly find themselves trapped with his parents (Toni Collette and David Thewlis) unsettling things start to happen as she starts to lose grip of reality.

Is it a psychological thriller? Is it a horror? It looks like a film with a lot of hidden meanings with a lot of twists. Why is Buckley’s character not given an name when she’s the lead character? Could we be looking at another Get Out style film? If we do sign us up for this one!

Despite second thoughts about their relationship, a young woman (Jessie Buckley) takes a road trip with her new boyfriend (Jesse Plemons) to his family farm. Trapped at the farm during a snowstorm with Jake’s mother (Toni Collette) and father (David Thewlis), the young woman begins to question the nature of everything she knew or understood about her boyfriend, herself, and the world. An exploration of regret, longing and the fragility of the human spirit, I’M THINKING OF ENDING THINGS is directed and written by Academy Award® winner Charlie Kaufman (ETERNAL SUNSHINE OF THE SPOTLESS MIND). Inspired by Iain Reid’s bestselling namesake novel.

I’m Thinking of Ending Things will be released on Netflix globally from 4th September.
