As cinemas continue to reopen across the UK and Ireland, Altitude are proud to announce that action thriller, UNHINGED, starring Russell Crowe, topped the UK and Irish Box Office in its opening weekend.

Playing exclusively in cinemas and drive ins UNHINGED secured a box office of £174,901, with a number of locations still to report. Off course the type of box office we know about hasn’t properly kicked off yet, there is a few films help kick things off. If anything Altitude is leading the line as this film is their third cinematic release in a matter of weeks.

killer croc thriller BLACK WATER: ABYSS and Jacki Weaver and Lucy Liu comedy STAGE MOTHER. In the coming weeks Altitude will be releasing Ladj Ly’s acclaimed and Academy Award nominated LES MISÉRABLES, the highly anticipated British drama ROCKS and DAVID ATTENBOROUGH: A LIFE ON OUR PLANET, which will premiere across the globe on 28 September.

Over the past few months we have shared the well-publicised concern about the state and future of cinema and the arts. Whilst this remains unclear as we all learn to cope with Covid-19, we’re encouraged by the support UNHINGED received from cinemas and audiences in its opening weekend,” said Altitude.

It’s bittersweet to herald a number one film at the box office during such uncertainty and hardship, but as cinemas continue to reopen with social distancing measures in place we hope that audience excitement for watching films on the big screen and in safe environments, contribute to further confidence in the cinema experience.”

The most important thing for people is to feel safe to enjoy films in cinema screens once again. Some are happy to return right away however we must respect others it maybe a long time before they step in a cinema. On a personal not I have experienced films at Odeon and Showcase cinemas recently. Both cinemas I can say very professional and plenty of safety procedures in place. For Cineworld not opening again in Scotland along with Wales but most of their rivals can leaves many questions unanswered.
