When Aquaman Becomes The Snowman: Jason Momoa To Play Frosty

The famous American actor will voice an iconic Christmas character in the new movie.

Jason Momoa, perhaps best known for portraying Aquaman in DC Extended Universe or Khal Drogo in phenomenal TV series Game of Thrones, is gradually turning into one of the most popular stars of Hollywood. And his next project also looks extremely cool. A charismatic action hero was recently cast as Frosty the Snowman, in the new adaptation of classic Christmas story. “We know Jason’s as a true human being filled with love, compassion and a deep connection to ohana…all of which is the living spirit of Xmas and Frosty,” explained Warner Bros. producer Greg Silverman in a statement about hiring Momoa.

The latest version of Frosty will be a combination of animated and live-action film and is currently in pre-production. The script is being crafted by David Berenbaum who has plenty of experience with Christmas movies (he wrote Elf, a successful 2003 fantasy comedy with Will Ferrell). Jason will voice the lead character. Name of the director as well as the release date are yet to be announced.

The tale of a snowman who is brough to life by a magical silk hat that a group of children place on his head has been adapted for the screen multiple times, since its first appearance as an animated short in 1950. Before Momoa it was voiced for example, by Jackie Vernon or John Goodman. Jason is therefore a quite surprising choice for such part and it will be very interesting to see how is he going to manage in this unusual task. Maybe we should get used to watching the famous native of Hawaii in more diverse movie roles. What do you think?
