It’s Tenet time again! The blockbuster soap opera of Christopher Nolan‘s Tenet has taken another twist today with news on when the film might be released. It seems Warner Bros are looking at releasing the film internationally first.
As they say third time lucky and we hope it will be as reports are saying the film is set for an 26th August UK . If your in Canada it seems 27th August is your release date, with at least 60 other countries also be allowed to show the film.
What are those other countries? Wednesday 26th August release date will include Belgium, Bulgaria, Croatia, Denmark, Egypt, Estonia, Finland, France, Holland, Hungary, Iceland, Indonesia, Italy, Korea, Latvia, Lithuania, Portugal, Serbia, Slovakia, Sweden, Switzerland, Turkey, Ukraine, and the UK, followed by Australia, Austria, Bahrain, Czech Republic, Germany, Greece, Hong Kong, Israel, Lebanon, Malaysia, Middle East, New Zealand, Poland, Saudi Arabia, Singapore, Taiwan, Thailand, United Arab Emirates on Thursday 27th August .On Friday 28th August will be East Africa, Ghana, Nigeria, Norway, Romania, Slovenia, Spain and Vietnam.
For the 3rd September Kuwait and Qatar are planning to show the film. As are Azerbaijan, CIS Others, Kazakhstan, Russia on 10th September with Japan on 18th September. What about USA and China?
There is no Chinese and Brazilian release yet and as for the film’s biggest market, USA it will get an 2nd September release date but only in select cities.
So what’s the catch?
With Covid-19 still causing chaos world wide and many people still sadly losing lives, cinemas much pass certain guidelines. They must show they have safety measure in place and before Warner Bros will consider that cinema is safe.
Sadly the U.S handling of the pandemic has been disastrous . Here in the UK we’re not much better however out side Boris Johnson’s government handling, Scotland, Wales and Northern Ireland handling has been better. However those parts of the UK will be judged on how London handles everything.
Cinemas in the UK are slowly been re-opening with the likes of Odeon, Showcase, some other chains with some cinemas opened. UK’s so called biggest Chain who have been advertising their UK cinemas will re-opening 31st July. They have now today said it will only be their English cinemas only, leaving Scottish and Welsh film fans wondering if they’ll ever get to see a film again.
