Matt Reeves’ Batman To Get A Gotham Police Spin-Off On HBO Max?

As we eagerly wait Matt Reeves The Batman, Warner Media announce there will be life after the film is released. They are so happy with what he’s done Reeves is teaming up with Broadwalk Empire creator Terrence Winter to create a TV Spin-off!

Deadline are reporting the series will be based around the Gotham City Police Department, for HBO Max. The show ultimately to launch a new Batman universe in various platforms. The only downside of this news is that this universe will probably won’t exist in any of the current DC universe.

Here’s the press release from WarnerMedia: “The groundbreaking television series to be written by Winter is set in the world Reeves is creating for The Batman feature film and will build upon the motion picture’s examination of the anatomy of corruption in Gotham City, ultimately launching a new Batman universe across multiple platforms. The series provides an unprecedented opportunity to extend the world established in the movie and further explore the myriad of compelling and complex characters of Gotham. This marks the first television project for Reeves under his recently announced overall deal with the Warner Bros. Television Group.”

Reeves also commented: “This is an amazing opportunity, not only to expand the vision of the world I am creating in the film, but to explore it in the kind of depth and detail that only a longform format can afford — and getting to work with the incredibly talented Terence Winter, who has written so insightfully and powerfully about worlds of crime and corruption, is an absolute dream.”

Right away peoples will be asking if this unnamed series will simply be a reboot of Gotham? Will Robert Pattinson be appearing in the show as Batman/Bruce Wayne ? Would be a brilliant move if they can get him even as a guest star, probably be a push. Other characters such as Jeffrey Wright might be a possibility .

Having a film and TV Showing sharing  the same universe is not unknown as Marvel did with Agents Of S.H.I.E.L.D, and Universal with The Purge.
