M. Night Shyamalan’s Film Adds Gael García Bernal To The Cast

M. Night Shyamalan‘s next film is a bit of a mystery with only Universal Pictures  named as it’s distributor. What the film will be about your guess will be good as mines, what we do know is the film has it’s another cast member.

Mexican actor Gael García Bernal is joining the film’s cast (possibly as the lead role). He’s joining the already  announced cast that includes Eliza Scanlen, Thomasin McKenzie, Aaron Pierre, Alex Wolff, Vicky Krieps, Abbey Lee, Nikki Amuka-Bird and Ken Leung.

Shyamalan will direct, produce and write the script for the untitled film. There is also no indication on when he’ll start production on the film.  But everything these days, the ‘C’ word is affecting everything  including the potential release date. Universal Pictures set the 21st July 2021 as the release date for this film, we expect that to change.

With many studios now setting up Covid-19 safety protocols , the production may be starting sooner than we expect.

Shyamalan will independently finance this secret film like he did for his previous films. Glass, Split and The Visit all had a combined production budget of around $35 millions (£28m) all returning a box office return of around $600 million.

Bernal is not actor renowned for starring in mainstream /tentpole films. We usually find him starring in independent/ Arthouse films such as Jon Stewart’s Rosewater and Alejandro G. Iñárritu’s Babel. Not forgetting Y Tu Mamá También,The Motorcycle Diaries. Disney Pixar’s animated feature Coco probably his only mainstream film.
