Thomas Vinterberg’s Another Round Gets A UK Release Date

England and Scotland Cinemas looking to open in July , hopefully Wales and Northern Ireland won’t be far behind.  As in if you wan’t to go back to cinemas right away that will be down to you. Since this was announced several distributors have been quick to reveal new UK Cinema release dates.

The week Studiocanal today revealed to the world that UK release of Thomas Vinterberg’s Another Round, a Cannes 2020 Official Selection film starring Mads Mikkelsen and opening in cinemas on Friday 27 November 2020.

There is an obscure philosophical theory that humans should have been born with a small amount of alcohol in our blood; that modest inebriation opens our minds to the world around us, diminishing problems and increasing creativity.

Intrigued, Martin (Mads Mikkelsen) and three of his friends, all weary high school teachers, embark on a risky experiment to maintain a constant level of intoxication throughout the workday.

Initial results are positive, but as the units are knocked back and stakes are raised, it becomes increasingly clear that some bold acts carry severe consequences.

Vinterberg reunites on Another Round with acclaimed screenwriter and regular collaborator Tobias Lindholm (BORGEN, A HIJACKING), with whom he also wrote previous films THE HUNT and THE COMMUNE.

Another Round also stars Vinterberg regulars Thomas Bo Larsen, Lars Ranthe and Magnus Millang.

This wasn’t the only film Studiocanal gave us UK Release dates for Saint Maud and Blithe Spirit.

Rose Glass film made it’s European Premiere at 2019 BFI London Film Festival before making it’s way to Scotland and the Arrow Video FrightFest. Stateside the film is been released by A24, who have released the likes of Hereditary, The VVitch, Midsommar.

Religion and psychological horror clash as Morfydd Clark stars as Nurse Maud. She assigned to work with a frail, ill famous dancer Amanda (Jennifer Ehle). Becoming obsessed with her patient, to a point thinking she maybe possessed.


The film was originally due for an May 1st UK release. With Covid-19 eradication ongoing gossiped fueled that the film was going directly to Premium VOD. It’s coming to UK cinemas on 23rd October.

If Noël Coward’s classic comedy with a supernatural twist is your thing, Blithe Spirit will be out 26th December. Dan Stevens stars as a pretentious crime novelist Charles who is suffering from writers block. He has a wife (Isla Fisher) who wants to descend into Hollywood fame, Charles needs inspiration. He invite eccentric medium Madame Arcati (Judi Dench) to perform a séance. Summoning an unexpected spirit!
