Her Kingdom Come! Vertigo Releasing have released the UK Trailer for Fanny Lye Deliver’d.
The film made it’s World Premiere at last year’s BFI London Film Festival, to strong positive reviews. Now the film is ready to be unleashed on the viewing public next month, hence the new trailer.
The period drama stars Maxine Peake and Charles Dance are a married couple. They are living a simple live during England’s Puritan with their son Arthur. The God fearing family’s lifestyle and values are challenged when an young progressive couple land on their door step.
This certainly doesn’t look your standard period drama, if I’m reading the synopsis and reviews correctly, home invasion drama? The film seems to explore the early days of the English Civil War, challenges, hostility the common man and woman faced. Elements of Ben Wheatley’s A Field In England and even Robert Egger’s The VVitch or as the director described his film, a ‘Puritan Western’.
Fanny Lye (Peake) lives a quiet Puritan life with her husband John (Dance) and young son Arthur, but her simple world is shaken to its core by the surprise arrival of a mysterious young couple in need. An unexpected visit from the local Sheriff causes events to further escalate, changing Fanny’s life forever.
written and directed by Thomas Clay and starring Maxine Peake, Charles Dance, Freddie Fox and Tanya Reynolds. Fanny Lye Deliver’d will be released across digital platforms on 26th June.
