It seems the mission is over for Nicholas Hoult as he pulls out of Mission Impossible 7. The British actor was set up to go up against Ethan Hunt as the film’s villain, now he’s been replaced. The Hollywood Reporter is reporting he has now been replaced by Esai Morales.
The seventh film was in the early days of production in Italy when the world went into lockdown. So like 99% films in production everything is delayed which causes other problems. As we know actors have tight schedules between films and scheduling problems has caused Hoult to depart Mission Impossible.
He has now been replaced by Esai Morales, who people may know from such shows as NYPD Blue, How to Get Away With Murder,Titans and more recently Ozark.
Mission Impossible 7 (aka MI:7) is being directed by Christopher McQuarrie who been planning the film via zoom whilst things are in lockdown. Now things are slowly easing off, many films are planning to restart shooting sadly Hoult is now having to move onto his next commitment.
Mission Impossible 7 and 8 will see Tom Cruise return as the legendary Ethan Hunt. He will be joined by Franchise regulars Simon Pegg, Ving Rhames, Rebecca Ferguson, and Vanessa Kirby all returning. Henry Czerny who last appeared in the first film as Kitteridge is also returning. Hayley Atwell and Shew Whigham are the new additions next to Morales.
We are big believers of never judging a book by it’s cover. The choice of Esai Morales has surprised a few people, especially as he’s a completely different prospect from Nicholas Hoult. Let’s wait until we see the film before we judge and YES he’s villain for MI:8 too! When film production gets back into full swing expect many other films seeing actors leaving projects for other commitments.
