For Will Ferrell and Julia Louis-Dreyfus It’s All ‘Downhill’ Watch UK Trailer

It was only the matter of time before this one was going to be remade. Later this month the English language remake of Ruben Östlund‘s Force Majeure will arrive in cinemas. Searchlight Pictures have released the UK Trailer for Downhill starring Will Ferrell and Julia Louis-Dreyfus.

The Swedish original was critically a hit, with the film winning a BAFTA and Golden Globe. The black comedy sees a perfect ski family thrown into chaos thanks to an avalanche. Ferrell and Louis-Dreyfus playing the parents and thanks to the actions of the father, forces the family to re-evaluate life.

That film had a Bergman-esque tone to it. dialogue and emotionally driven, hard to say if the tone will be similar. It’s uncomfortable viewing as we watch a marriage fall apart, harrowing stuff. But we’re eager to see what our leading comedic duo will deliver.

Ironically Östlund and his producer Erik Hemmendorff are onboard with this one. So a great chance for some of that twisted humour might appear in Downhill

Barely escaping an avalanche during a ski vacation in the Alps, a seemingly picture-perfect family is thrown into disarray as they are forced to reevaluate life, and how they truly feel about each other. Östlund continues “The family in Downhill is a bit older than the family in Force Majeure. I believe that changes how the conflict plays out in an interesting way. As a couple they have been through more and know each other better. In Downhill the fathers destroyed self image might be the biggest problem for the family and not his actions.”

The film also stars Kristofer Hivju (who was in the original film), Zach Woods,Miranda Otto and Zoë Chao.

Downhill hits UK Cinemas on 28th February.
