Some things never die, are you ready to play a ‘new game’? Lionsgate Films hope you will be as the release of the first Trailer for Spiral is here!
When Chris Rock announced a while back he wanted to give the iconic horror franchise a new lease of life, eyes opened. Rather than just another reboot but for a comedic actor involved in a horror franchise. According to Collider, all thanks to a joke Rock let rip with Lionsgate CEO.
Spiral: From The Book Of Saw promises to bring a terrifying new chapter. Rock stars as Detective Zeke Banks who has an new rookie under his wings. Whilst attempting to show his partner the ropes, he investigates a series of gruesome murders. Eerily reminiscent of old murders which land Zeke in the middle of a deadly mysterious game.
Rock promised this was NOT going to be a comedy, the trailer seems to back him up. After the last reboot Jigsaw, you may ask do we need another one? This trailer actually shows promise, how much of the franchise mythology will survive we don’t know. We do love David Fincher‘s Se7en and this has shreds of that film throughout…
A sadistic mastermind unleashes a twisted form of justice in SPIRAL, the terrifying new chapter from the book of SAW. Working in the shadow of an esteemed police veteran (Samuel L. Jackson), brash Detective Ezekiel “Zeke” Banks (Chris Rock) and his rookie partner (Max Minghella) take charge of a grisly investigation into murders that are eerily reminiscent of the city’s gruesome past. Unwittingly entrapped in a deepening mystery, Zeke finds himself at the center of the killer’s morbid game.
The film also stars Max Minghella, Marisol Nichols and Samuel L. Jackson. Darren Lynn Bousman returns to the directing chair..
Spiral doesn’t have an exact UK or Irish cinema release date just yet. However it looks like the film will be released in the U.S on 15th May, expect similar date.
