Watch New Clip From Makoto Shinkai’s Weathering With You

Yesterday I had the privilege of watching Makoto Shinkai‘s Weathering With You . For a little while I became a doubter of anime and his latest film reminded me how much I love anime.

It’s rare to see new anime outside of Studio Ghibli released theatrically in the UK. Usually it’s re-releases of classics or the latest Ghibli films. But thanks to this one coming from the director of 2016 Your Name Japan’s first anime entry for the Academy Awards in over 20 years! GKids and All The Anime will be giving this film an theatrical release.

I was fortunate to have caught the film’s subbed version. We know not everyone likes subtitles, so today the English language cast was announced. The cast includes Brandon Engman (Hodaka),Ashley Boettcher (Hina),Lee Pace (Suga),Alison Brie (Natsumi), Emeka Guindo (Nagi),Riz Ahmed (Takai),Vinnie Penna (Kimura),Mike Pollock (Yasui) and Barbara Goodson (Tachibana).

Today we’ve been sent a clip from the film, which you can enjoy below. Also if you never watched the Trailer you can now. Without given too much away, If you enjoyed Your Name, you’ll adore this. Visually gorgeous, poetic and charming.

High school freshman Hodaka Morishima leaves his home on an isolated island and moves to Tokyo, but he quickly finds himself in financial trouble. Living his days in isolation, he eventually lands a job as a writer for a shady occult magazine. Then one day in an alley, Hodaka meets a young girl named Hina Amano, bright and strong-willed, who possesses a strange and wonderful ability: the power to stop the rain and clear the sky.

Weathering With You will open in cinemas across the UK & Ireland on 17th January with both Dubbed and Subbed screenings. To find out what cinemas are showing this film, head over to the film’s UK Site.
