The Lovebirds First Trailer Teases ‘There’s Been A Murder!’

Issa Rae and Kumail Nanjiani star in Paramount Pictures’ “The Lovebirds.”

Every happy couple has one moment that defines their relationship. Paramount Pictures has released the First U.S Trailer for RomCom The Lovebirds starring Issa Rae and Kumail Nanjiani.

The film marks the re-teaming of Nanjiani and The Big Sick director Michael Showalter. That film was an unexpected critically acclaimed indie hit partially based around Najiani’s own life and how he met his wife. This time is not exactly based around true story, but a date night with a murderous aftermath.

The Lovebirds stars Nanjiani & Rae are a married couple who find themselves dragged into criminal collusion. When someone is murdered the couple find themselves going on the run in an attempt to clear their name.

This trailer doesn’t hold back or waste time setting the premise. This one is certainly in the frame of Date Night and Game Night. If The Big Sick wasn’t a critical hit, this one might have passed without notice. Our lead twosome look to have some nice chemistry which makes their relationship feel genuine. A fun film on the cards here especially if they hit us with the unexpected twists and turns…

A couple (Issa Rae & Kumail Nanjiani) experiences a defining moment in their relationship when they are unintentionally embroiled in a murder mystery. As their journey to clear their names takes them from one extreme – and hilarious – circumstance to the next, they must figure out how they, and their relationship, can survive the night.

The film also co-stars Paul Sparks, Anna Camp, Kyle Bornheimer. The Lovebirds UK and Irish release might be 24th April, U.S date is confirmed 3rd April.
