Pokémon: Sword & Shield Anime Trailer Debuts Online!

Pokémon: Sword & Shield Anime Trailer Debuts Online!

Following on from the popular ‘Sun & Moon’ series which concludes its run on November 3rd in Japan, a trailer for the next anime series has debuted online. ‘Pokémon’ has its first trailer just 14 days before the release of the upcoming Nintendo Switch titles ‘Pokémon Sword’ and ‘Pokémon Shield’, so there isn’t too much given away in the new trailer but it does looks amazing. Once again our favourite forever 10 years old Pokémon Master in the making, Ash Ketchum, has a new look and the show’s art style has changed once again. This time the art style seems more close to what we’ve seen in the latest Pokémon films ‘I Choose You’ and ‘The Power Of Us’ than the cartoony stylings of the Sun and Moon series.

Ash’s new companion is a boy named Gou this time around, whose dream is to find Mew and catch many Pokémon. Although there is guaranteed to be a lot of Pokémon from the new upcoming game titles in this series, the new series seems set to take Ash and his new companion travelling all around the Pokémon world which is sure to please fans.

In the first episode titled ‘Pikachu Is Born’ we get somewhat of an origin story for Ash’s partner. The synopsis reads: “In a forest somewhere in Kanto, there once was a lonely Pichu. This Pichu, who was still very young, had a certain encounter and farewell. This all took place shortly before Ash and his partner Pikachu started their journey. This is the story of how everything began”.

I’m very excited for this series (as well as the games!) so you can expect a review from me following the release of the first episode when it airs on November 15th 2019 in Japan. Although there is no word on a worldwide release just yet, I will update when the information is available.
