Judy & Punch UK Trailer, Mia Wasikowska Is An Avenging Puppeteer

That’s the way we do it!” Punch & Judy has been entertaining (even terrifying) kids for 500 hundred years. Next month Mirrah Foulkes Judy & Punch turns the traditional story of Punch and Judy on its head and brings to life a devilishly delightful tale.

Mia Wasikowska and Damon Herriman star as our legendary puppeteers. The pair attempt to keep their marionette show running Punch attempts to steal the limelight from Judy who is the talented one. After a accident involving their child, Punch goes on a drinking binge, beats Judy to a pulp leaving her for dead. She survive cue revenge.

The film has been garnering great reviews since its world premiere at Sundance Film Festival. The film might be a fantasy, absurd in nature, but the alcohol and violence is sadly too resonant these days.

Picturehouse Entertainment have released an UK Trailer ahead of this weekend’s BFI London Film Festival Premier, check it out…

In the outlandish town of Seaside, located nowhere near the coast, puppeteers Judy and Punch are trying to resurrect their marionette show. The show is a hit due to Judy’s superior puppeteering, but Punch’s driving ambition and penchant for a drink lead to an ill-fated turn of events that Judy must avenge.

An outstanding debut feature from Mirrah Foulkes, JUDY & PUNCH is a darkly funny tale that blends elements of fantasy and the absurd to craft an entirely unique concoction that constantly subverts viewer expectations, propelled along by a vibrant and hugely inventive original score by Francois Tetaz.

The film also stars Tom Budge , Benedict Hardie , Gillian Jones, Terry Norris , and Brenda Palmer.

European Premiere Screening at BFI London Film Festival on the 12th then on 13th October. Get tickets at: https://bit.ly/2mmOKm9

Judy & Punch will be released in UK and Irish cinemas from 22nd November.
