In Late Night UK Trailer Mindy Kaling Gives Comedy A Rewrite

Late Night television here in the UK may not be as glamorous or bombarded with Chat Shows, doesn’t mean its not competitive. Next month things get funnier when Late Night is released in the UK. Today Entertainment One has sent us the UK Trailer as its time to give comedy a rewrite.

Starring Emma Thompson as legendary Late-Night talk show host who finds herself in unknown territory. A talk show faces the Network chopping block. Putting complacency to one side she hire Molly Patel (Mindy Kalling) as her staff writer. Slowly Molly’s unique passion might just help Katherine reconnect with her audience.

Buddy comedy, which looks to have genuine funny as well as intimate moments. A reminder never to get too comfortable in your job things could change as fast as Thanos clicking his fingers!

LATE NIGHT is the story of legendary late-night talk show host Katherine Newbury (Thompson) who, after years of complacency and declining ratings, finds her show is on the network’s chopping block. Katherine’s world is turned upside down when she hires her first ever female staff writer, Molly Patel (Kaling) who brings fresh eyes and an honest perspective. Katherine’s decision has unexpectedly hilarious consequences, as her show is upended by Molly’s passionate, unapologetic, at times outright bizarre approach to comedy and to life. By finally opening up to Molly and to her audience, with warmth, vulnerability (and the occasional menopause joke) Katherine reconnects with both the public and those closest to her.

The film also co-stars Amy Ryan, John Lithgow, Hugh Dancy .Max Casella, Denis O’Hare, and Reid Scott,

Late Night will be released in the UK and Ireland from 7th June. However the film will make it’s European Premiere at Sundance Film Festival: London, later this month (more details here).
