On 5 August KISS ME DEADLY is released. A film noir masterpiece as well as an essential piece of cold war paranoia, it features as nervy an ending as has ever been seen in American cinema.
Following on 19 August comes KLUTE starring Jane Fonda. The film is a character study thick with dread, capturing the mood of early-1970s New York and the predicament of a woman trying to find her own way on the fringes of society.
On 26 August Spike Lee’s 1989 masterpiece DO THE RIGHT THING arrives. A landmark in American cinema, as politically and emotionally charged and as relevant now as when it first hit the big screen.
