New Uglydolls Trailer Promises ‘Musical Comedy Of Doll Time’

Never let anyone tell you you don’t fit the bill, no one is perfect. Our flaws make us who we are and that’s the message that flows through Uglydolls.

There might be just over 4 months to go until the film’s release, STX Films have released the third and final UK Trailer. In that new promo, they promise it will be the all singing, all dancing musical comedy of ‘doll’ time.

Based on the plush toys created by David Horvath and Sun-Min Kim in 2001. Dolls that endeer their ‘ugliness’, where differences are celebrated and embraced. 18 years later the cult dolls have age-spanning world wide fan base now a film coming this summer.

Outside of Disney-Pixar, Dreamworks and Studio Ghibli, its doubly hard for animated features to succeed. They do have a bonus of a popular collectable toys and popular musicians to sing the songs. Which will get critics judging it on Trolls, which is wrong. The question is, will the kids jump onto the catchy pop songs and the messages of empowerment?

The trailer below does showcase some new footage and her dolls attempting to get into perfection. The residents of perfection give Uglyville residents a rude awakening…

Unconventionality rules in UGLYDOLLS, the new animated family adventure based on the beloved toy brand. In the adorably different town of Uglyville, the free-spirited Moxy (Kelly Clarkson) and her UglyDolls friends confront what it means to be different, struggle with their desire to be loved, and ultimately discover that you don’t have to be perfect to be amazing because who you truly are is what matters most.

Directed by Kelly Asbury (Gnomeo and Juliet, Shrek 2), UGLYDOLLS features original songs by Kelly Clarkson, Janelle Monáe, Blake Shelton, Nick Jonas and Pitbull.

Uglydolls will be released in the UK and Ireland from August 16th 2019 (May 10th in the U.S).
