Charlie Kaufman’s I’m Thinking Of Ending Things Adds Toni Collette

Charlie Kaufman’s I’m Thinking Of Ending Things has started principal photography, Netflix confirm. The film will be adaptation of Iain Reid’s internationally best-selling novel of the same name . Kaufman will write and direct the project.

The film will star Jesse Plemons (Vice, The Post), Jessie Buckley (Wild Rose, Beast)and David Thewlis (Anomalisa, Wonder Woman). They will now be joined by Hereditary star Toni Collette who taken over from Brie Larson. No reason has been given for Larson but we assume thanks to the success of Captain Marvel and upcoming Avengers: Endgame may have something to do with it. Nothing has been confirmed on exactly when she left the project. Variety are reporting Jessie Buckley who has been given Brie Larson’s role.

The psychological thriller I’m Thinking of Ending Things is a stunning debut that examines the fragility of the psyche and the limitations of solitude. On a road trip to meet his parents on their secluded farm, Jake’s girlfriend is thinking of ending things. When Jake makes an unexpected detour, leaving her stranded, a twisted mix of palpable tension, psychological frailty, and sheer terror ensues.

Ian Reid’s debut novel is currently published in 17 territories and received rave reviews from Publisher’s Weekly, Kirkus, Library Journal and Booklist. It was also named an NPR Best Book of the Year in 2016,

Likely Story’s Anthony Bregman (Private Life, Eternal Sunshine of the Spotless Mind, Foxcatcher), Stefanie Azpiazu (The Land of Steady Habits, Enough Said) and Bob Salerno are producing along with Kaufman. Reid will serve as co-producer.

This new project reunites Kaufman with his frequent collaborator Bregman, who previously produced Eternal Sunshine of the Spotless Mind, Synecdoche, New York, and Human Nature.

There’s no release date been confirmed yet from Netflix, I’m Thinking Of Ending Things more likely to be out 2020 maybe late 2019.
