We looked back in amazement how long Hugh Jackman played Logan. We forget it was also the start of the X-Men franchise, 19 years on we have one final story, X-Men: Dark Phoenix.

A few months back we got a taste of what’s come for Charles Xavier’s young mutants. Facing their greatest challenge when one of their own mutants, friends, even lover turns on them, Jean Grey. Today Twentieth Century Fox Pictures has released a Second Trailer , that teases that one last fight will be a ‘classic X-Men Story’.

For a X-Men film, the marketing has been very low key, especially been the last story under the old Fox studio name. With Disney been Marvel’s owners its expected the characters will reemerge in the MCU in some shape. We are hopeful this one will deliver a solid film, even if what we’ve seen in the trailers isn’t anything we haven’t seen before.

In DARK PHOENIX, the X-MEN face their most formidable and powerful foe: one of their own, Jean Grey. During a rescue mission in space, Jean is nearly killed when she is hit by a mysterious cosmic force. Once she returns home, this force not only makes her infinitely more powerful but far more unstable. Wrestling with this entity inside her, Jean unleashes her powers in ways she can neither comprehend nor contain. With Jean spiralling out of control and hurting the ones she loves most, she begins to unravel the very fabric that holds the X-Men together. Now, with this family falling apart, they must find a way to unite — not only to save Jean’s soul but to save our very planet from aliens who wish to weaponize this force and rule the galaxy.

Dark Phoenix will star Sophie Turner, James McAvoy, Michael Fassbender, Jennifer Lawrence, Nicholas Hoult, Tye Sheridan, Alexandra Shipp, and Jessica Chastain.

X-Men: Dark Phoenix now has a confirmed UK and Irish Cinema release date. It will be 7th June 2019, the same date as the U.S.
