Since it’s World Premiere at this year’s Toronto Film Festival, Felix Van Groeningen‘s Beautiful Boy has been lapping up the praise. Now the Festival circuit for this year is ending all thoughts are on the cinematic release.
Today Studiocanal has released a new second UK Trailer, which reveals more of the addiction side of the film. To tie in with addiction side Studiocanal announce a unique partnership with Addaction. A charity that specialises in giving support for people with drug, alcohol and mental problems.
The stars of the show are Steve Carrell and Oscar-winning Call Me By Your Name star Timothée Chalamet. The pair plays father and son David and Nic Sheff whom the film is based around their memoirs. A story of (drug) addiction and how it destroys the addict’s life and those around them.
The realism of the film’s core subject (Drugs) has been attracting the praise for the film. But reality drug addiction is only one dependency, the list is sadly endless. The looks like a film that looks like will have empathy rather blame or sympathy. Most of all this will be an emotional watch!
Based on the memoir “Beautiful Boy” by David Sheff and “Tweak” by his son, Nic Sheff, the film chronicles the heartbreaking and inspiring experience of survival and recovery in a family coping with addiction over many years.
Beautiful Boy is set to be released in UK and Irish Cinemas from 18th January 2019. Co-starring Maura Tierney and Amy Ryan.
