Netflix Gives First Look At The Umbrella Academy, Their New Superheroes!


D.C are struggling to put two back to back great superhero films, Marvel has conquered all, Now Netflix has their own Superhero clan coming…The Umbrella Academy. With Disney setting up their own streaming channel is expected, everything Marvel will be heading there. Netflix has dug deep into comic book fandom and unearthed an Eisner winning comic book created by none other than My Chemical Romance frontman, Gerard Way.

Co-created with Gabriel Bá the comic book was released by Dark Horse and based around a dysfunctional band of superheroes. The Hargreeves family children come together for the first time in a long time, reunited thanks to their father’s death. Started way back in 2007 with 2 volumes leaving fans for more. Bá has finally given fans exciting news at New York Comic Con that a new book is coming and now the news we have this Netflix Originals show to look forward too!

To give the show its first push, Netflix has released some first look images and character posters of our newly found heroes…

On the same day in 1989, forty-three infants are inexplicably born to random, unconnected women who showed no signs of pregnancy the day before. Seven are adopted by Sir Reginald Hargreeves, a billionaire industrialist, who creates The Umbrella Academy and prepares his “children” to save the world. But not everything went according to plan. In their teenage years, the family fractured and the team disbanded. Now, the six surviving thirty-something members reunite upon the news of Hargreeves’ passing. Luther, Diego, Allison, Klaus, Vanya, and Number Five work together to solve a mystery surrounding their father’s death. But the estranged family once again begins to come apart due to their divergent personalities and abilities, not to mention the imminent threat of a global apocalypse.

The series will star Ellen Page, Mary J. Blige, Cameron Britton, Tom Hopper, David Castañeda, Emmy Raver-Lampman, Robert Sheehan, Aidan Gallagher, Colm Feore, Adam Godley, John Magaro, Ashley Madekwe, Kate Walsh.
