Watch The Heartbreaking UK Welcome To Marwen Trailer Starring Steve Carrell

Universal Pictures has released the UK Trailer for Welcome To Marwen starring Steve Carrell directed by Robert Zemeckis.

Based around on a true story which is partly based on the documentary Marwencol (2010) about Mark Hogancamp. In 2000 as he left a local pub he was nearly beaten to death by five thugs. Thankfully Mark survived but it left him traumatized, memory loss and he coped with his therapy in a fascinating way. He started to build a small Belgium village with characters from his life and his attackers.

A Few weeks ago a U.S trailer was released which totally miss-sold the film. It gave a completely different tone more comedic rather a more dramatic, emotion heartfelt one this new trailer delivers. The original 2010 documentary was a testament that PTSD victims cope with their trauma in different ways. Carrell is a fantastic actor he can easily blend comedic, drama and emotion roles naturally. This promo shows Hogancamp dealing with some heavy issues involving women in his life. Just be prepared let a few tears flow.

Academy Award®-winning filmmaker Robert Zemeckis (Forrest Gump, Flight, Cast Away) directs Steve Carell in the moving true story of one broken man’s fight as he discovers how artistic imagination can restore the human spirit.

The screenplay for WELCOME TO MARWEN was written by Caroline Thompson and Zemeckis, while Oscar®-winning producer Steve Starkey (Forrest Gump, Flight) and Jack Rapke (Cast Away, Flight) of Zemeckis’ Universal-based ImageMovers banner produce alongside the director. It is executive produced by Jeff Malmberg, who directed the riveting 2010 documentary upon which this film is based, and Jackie Levine.

The film also stars Leslie Mann, Merritt Wever, Janelle Monae, Eiza Gonzalez, and Gwendoline Christie.

Welcome To Marwen will be released in the UK and Ireland from 9th January 2019 (the U.S release date is 21st December).
