Second Alita: Battle Angel Trailer Has Cyborg Action, More Plot Details

Just when you thought Robert Rodriguez’s Alita: Battle Angel (aka Battle Angel Alita)was becoming a forgotten film, boom! 20th Century Fox Pictures has released a brand new Second Trailer.

Rosa Salazar plays our titular hero Alita, an amnesiac cyborg who is rescued from the scrap. She is rebuilt by a doctor (Christoph Waltz)who makes her hunt down nasty criminals. Only when a new crime syndicate comes to town, clues to her past come back and to save her friends.

8 months after the first teaser we get this new promo which right away it’s a big improvement. The CGI looks crisper, sharper probably all down to the director’s digital video and James Cameron‘s passion to embrace new technology. We do get to see a bit of action between Alita and Skrien’s Zapan. This gives us an insight into our heroine’s backstory too.

Anime live-action films in Hollywood have not had the best of relationships recently. Some people might find those CGI Eyes a little creepy with Rodriguez stating there to honor the film’s anime roots. Love what they’re doing but after the visually impressive Ghost In The Shell can Cinefiles accept another Anime live action?

From visionary filmmakers James Cameron (AVATAR) and Robert Rodriguez (SIN CITY), comes ALITA: BATTLE ANGEL, an epic adventure of hope and empowerment. When Alita (Rosa Salazar) awakens with no memory of who she is in a future world she does not recognize, she is taken in by Ido (Christoph Waltz), a compassionate doctor who realizes that somewhere in this abandoned cyborg shell is the heart and soul of a young woman with an extraordinary past. As Alita learns to navigate her new life and the treacherous streets of Iron City, Ido tries to shield her from her mysterious history while her street-smart new friend Hugo (Keean Johnson) offers instead to help trigger her memories. But it is only when the deadly and corrupt forces that run the city come after Alita that she discovers a clue to her past – she has unique fighting abilities that those in power will stop at nothing to control. If she can stay out of their grasp, she could be the key to saving her friends, her family and the world she’s grown to love.
