To some, it’s been the forgotten and after the success of Denis Villeneuve‘s Sicario a follow up was certainly on the cards. Villeneuve has moved on to bigger better things (most recently Blade Runner 2049), Sicario 2: Soldado will be directed by Suburra director Stefano Sollima.
Lionsgate Films has gone for a very low key marketing, with only a UK Trailer to promote the film. Today we now get a look at the film’s main poster which follows the similar design last seen in the first film. Check it out…
The treatment of Emily Blunt‘s character in the first film was heavily criticised by some film critics. This time Benicio Del Toro has taken centre stage as the war on Drugs goes deeper into Mexican territory. We’re little unsure if this film is a prequel which then promises to look deeper into Del Toro’s character motives. He will be joined by Josh Brolin who has turned the majority of the Marvel cinematic universe into dust in Avengers: Infinity War, as Thanos.

The mission is unfinished, and the war has just begun
In Sicario 2: Soldado, the drug war on the US – Mexico border has escalated as the cartels have begun trafficking terrorists across the US border. To fight the war, federal agent Matt Graver (Josh Brolin) reteams with the mercurial Alejandro (Benicio Del Toro).
Sollima is also known for his work on the Italian TV Crime thriller The Gomorrah. His first foray into Hollywood, certainly looking to have a similar dark nasty tone.
Sicario 2: Soldado will be released in the UK and Ireland from 29th June. As the last trailer was released back in December, could we see a final trailer released very shortly?
The film also stars Isabela Moner, Jeffrey Donovan, Manuel Garcia-Rulfo, Catherine Keener and Matthew Modine.
