Edinburgh International Film Festival is set to host a super opening weekend with highly anticipated Pixar sequel ‘Incredibles 2’ as it’s Family Gala event.
Brad Bird’s follow up to the first film, ‘The Incredibles’, is confirmed for Sunday 24th June at 2pm taking place at Festival Theatre, while an additional school screening will be held on Monday 25th June at 10am over at Filmhouse.
The Family Gala builds on Disney and Pixar’s longstanding relationship with EIFF, which has hosted plenty of screenings of their films over the years. These have even included UK or European premieres including ‘Brave’ and ‘Cars 3’ just last year.
Mark Adams, EIFF Artistic Director commented: “The Incredibles won hearts the world over with its fun and exciting adventures and it’s an honour to be continuing our long-standing relationship with Disney and Pixar Animation Studios to deliver this special, superpowered sequel to our younger audiences and their families.”
In the sequel, Helen (voice of Holly Hunter) is called on to lead a campaign to bring Supers back, while Bob (voice of Craig T. Nelson) navigates the day-to-day heroics of “normal” life at home with Violet (voice of Sarah Vowell), Dash (voice of Huck Milner) and baby Jack-Jack—whose superpowers are about to be discovered. Their mission is derailed, however, when a new villain emerges with a brilliant and dangerous plot that threatens everything. But the Parrs don’t shy away from a challenge, especially with Frozone (voice of Samuel L. Jackson) by their side. That’s what makes this family so Incredible.
I always attend the festival so you can expect a review of the film from me as soon as I’ve attended. This is a fantastic day out for families and fans alike so be sure to book your tickets here to avoid disappointment!
‘Incredibles 2’ will release in UK cinemas on July 13, 2018.
