Mission Impossible: Fallout has been getting cinephiles talking the past week with the first trailer. The stunts have taken centre stage and the ones performed by Tom Cruise, especially the one with his ankle break. There was one other stunt that’s stood out from the first movie poster to the recent trailer, that’s the helicopter stunt.
Today Paramount Pictures has released a pretty awesome behind the scenes Featurette that focuses on the particular stunt. This is one stunt that’s taken Tom Cruise a year to master as he learned to fly the helicopter. Raking in 2000 hours which is no easy feat for a learner but this is Tom Cruise we’re talking about and he already was an airplane pilot. This dedication to making the stunts as authentic as possible and Cruise is no spring chicken either, now in his mid-50’s.
Tom Cruise recent films have been a big let down, but very few high calibre actors will perform their own stunts. So our respects go to the actor and when it comes to the Mission Impossible movies he certainly pushes the boundaries. I’m sure his insurance policy will be sky high!
