We know there’s been many great (and bad) Boxing movies in cinematic history. Earlier this year Jawbone was one of the unexpected hits and early next year Paddy Considine will be punching its way into UK cinemas with Journeyman.
The boxing drama is the actor’s latest directorial effort and if we go by his previous movies like Tyrannosaur we’re in for something totally powerful. When it comes to boxing based movies they usually focus on boxers down on their luck forced to box again. We forget boxers sustain injuries, some very serious and Considine players a champion boxer facing his toughest fight. Studiocanal has sent us the UK Trailer and witness that journey…
I’m not really a boxing fan, nor do I know how authentic previous movies have been. There is something about this one that attracts me to check this one out. Maybe it’s the fact Considine has worked closely with the boxing community to get this one right. In return that community has given this trailer a glowing review. This movie also has a Time Lord in it’s cast none other than Jodie Whittaker the new Doctor Who!
Journeyman tells the story of middleweight boxing champion Matty Burton (Paddy Considine). After winning a punishing title defence on points, Matty collapses at home. The journey towards regaining his speech, movement and memory will be the toughest fight he’ll ever face, and the prize could not be greater, for his relationship with his wife Emma (Jodie Whittaker) and baby daughter Mia are on the line… Journeyman is a powerful and beautiful story about loss and, ultimately, triumph. It’s about our identity, and how in life we sometimes have to dig deep into our soul to discover who we really are.
Journeyman will be released in UK and Irish Cinemas from 16th February 2018.Starring alongside Considine is Jodie Whittaker (Upcoming Doctor Who), Anthony Welsh (My Brother The Devil), Tony Pitts (War Horse) and Paul Popplewell (’71).
