The circle of life will once again be heard in our cinema screens and during the wee small hours, Disney Studios revealed the cast of The Lion King Live Action Remake. We knew this would be an all star-packed cast, Jon Favreau and his new take on Disney’s 1994 classic animated film. the film welcomes back to the big screen iconic characters that audiences have long treasured—but in a whole new way. The question is will it match or even beat the success of the original movie?
Donald Glover is set to play Simba with Beyoncé Knowles-Carter to play as Simba’s friend-turned-love interest Nala.The legend that is James Earl Jones reprising his role as Simba’s wise and loving father, Mufasa. His voice is iconic whose making a big career as a voice actor, with Lord Darth Vader one of his other famous voices.
Some critics were a little surprised at Beyoncé been picked to play Nala, remember this is a musical adventure, she an established pop star. She is no stranger to the big screen with Goldmember, Dreamgirls and Obsessed. Her last screen role was in 2013 voicing a character in the animation Epic.
Every movie needs a villain and this one was originally voiced by Jeremy Irons.Chiwetel Ejiofor will portray Simba’s villainous uncle Scar with Alfre Woodard (Luke Cage) portrays Simba’s no-nonsense mother, Sarabi. Seth Rogen as Pumbaa, Billy Eichner as Timon, John Oliver as Zazu, Eric Andre as Azizi, Keegan-Michael Key as Kamari, John Kani as Rafiki and Florence Kasumba as Sehnzi.JD McCrary and Shahadi Wright Joseph will play the young versions of Simba, and Nala.
“It is a director’s dream to assemble a talented team like this to bring this classic story to life,” said Favreau.
After the success of The Jungle BookFilm Review – The Jungle Book (2016) ,it’s given hope for Disney Studios this will be another success. The film was 99% CGI characters, this one will be purely CGI. Many are waiting for the bubble to bust, which will happen eventually but for now Disney Studios are at the top of their game.

Simba idolizes his father, King Mufasa, and takes to heart his own royal destiny. But not everyone in the kingdom celebrates the new cub’s arrival. Scar, Mufasa’s brother—and former heir to the throne—has plans of his own. The battle for Pride Rock is ravaged with betrayal, tragedy and drama, ultimately resulting in Simba’s exile. With help from a curious pair of newfound friends, Simba will have to figure out how to grow up and take back what is rightfully his.
