In the first trailer, Tom Cruise ran, ran and ran and this Sunday (2nd April) the monster he was running from Princess Ahmanet will get her revenge. Ahead of the second The Mummy UK Trailer this weekend Universal Pictures has sent us a short preview, which shows the rise of the iconic spectre.
When you’ve covered virtually every part of the horror genre, there’s only one thing you can do is got back to the beginning and unleash the classics. Universal Pictures have the golden age of legendary horror monsters and plan to bring them all back with The Mummy the first.
Tom Cruise headlines a spectacular, all-new cinematic version of the legend that has fascinated cultures all over the world since the dawn of civilisation: The Mummy.
Thought safely entombed in a tomb deep beneath the unforgiving desert, an ancient princess (Sofia Boutella of Kingsman: The Secret Service and Star Trek Beyond) whose destiny was unjustly taken from her is awakened in our current day, bringing with her malevolence grown over millennia and terrors that defy human comprehension.
From the sweeping sands of the Middle East through hidden labyrinths under modern-day London, The Mummy brings a surprising intensity and balance of wonder and thrills in an imaginative new take that ushers in a new world of gods and monsters.
We’re not the biggest fans of very short previews of upcoming trailers, but as many studios now have the 5-10 second tease in front of the proper thing, it’s hard to avoid now. This looks totally bonkers and also seems to be open the door to the others with a cameo from Dr Jekyll (Russell Crowe) maybe even Mr Hyde?!
The Mummy set for a 9th June UK, Irish and U.S release date. Starring Sofia Boutella, Annabelle Wallis, Jake Johnson, Courtney B. Vance.
