In less than three weeks, Brock Lesnar shall face Goldberg at Wrestlemania 33. Also, it shall be for the WWE Universal Championship. This is essentially the return match from WWE Survivor Series, where Goldberg beat Lesnar in less than a minute. However should the WWE Universal Title be on the line? In-fact should Goldberg even be champion?
Lack Of Affect On The Feud
Surely I can’t be the only fan feeling this way? I believe that the WWE Universal Champion is having no affect on the Goldberg VS Brock Lesnar feud. If anything it feels as if Lesnar is solely out for revenge, rightfully so but it would seem as if there is no point in the title being the incentive, simply because it does not feel like an incentive! At this point it would seem as if WWE are struggling to galvanize the presence of the title.
Failure of The WWE Universal Championship
It’s no secret that the WWE universe are not too fond of the WWE Universal Championship. Introduced last year at WWE Summerslam, its appearance was the first commodity fans took a dig at. While it may seem harsh I believe the fans have a point; It’s a red version of the WWE Championship from Smackdown Live!……. literally! But despite the elephant in the room fans were optimistic as Finn Balor was crowned the first ever WWE Universal Champion, only to relinquish the title due to injury. Even Kevin Owens as champion was underwhelming due to his reign being booked so poorly. Looking back on it the opportunity for KO to run with the ball was wonderful but it was not seized upon….. such a shame.
Prospect Of More Part Time Champions
With all due respect to Goldberg and Brock Lesnar for that matter, the WWE universe does not want anymore part time champions. Why? because it really takes the prestige off the belt and belittles it. If the current reigning champion is not present every week then we aren’t seeing the belt, which is immediately an issue. Current WWE Universal Champion Goldberg was not present for Monday Night RAW last night and it has bugged me greatly. Now if Lesnar wins the title at Wrestlemania (which seems likely) it would seem as if we shall endure another part time reign, no one wants that!
Overall I believe that this feud shall not catapult the WWE Universal Champion, much the very opposite which bothers me. Thus one can only pray and hope they give the title to someone new and refreshing, to spring its presence into life on WWE TV in the aftermath of this feud.
