Bong Joon-ho’s OKJA First trailer Delivers Netflix A Monster

We can’t deny the growth of streaming giants Netflix since they fully launched their ‘Netflix Originals’, the growth has been extraordinary. This June a new ‘monster’ will arrive online when Bong Joon-ho‘s OKJA unleashes his latest fantasy and now we get our first teaser trailer

It’s been nearly 4 years since Snowpiercer (which still not officially released in the UK)and it’s been a long time since The Host his last creature feature. Whilst the titular character maybe a ‘creature’ but is it a ‘friend or foe’?To one little girl, it’s a friend.

From visionary filmmaker Bong Joon-Ho, the creative mind behind the worldwide sensation Snowpiercer comes the new global adventure Okja. The film follows the epic journey of Mija, a young girl who must risk everything to prevent a powerful, multi-national company from kidnapping her best friend – a massive animal named ‘Okja’.

If you’re looking for something similar to The Host, you may be a little disappointed but intrigued when you look back at the Korean filmmaker’s he won’t disappoint. The pulling power of Netflix is pulling movies away from Hollywood into Streaming is so powerful Hollywood A-listers are lining up to star in the movies.

The trailer is short (just under 1 minute mark) and it shows our titular creature is one created through pollution and our negligence. Created out of science and nature, with a lot of themes which effect our little planet not forgetting our own relationship with beast too. We sense the creature itself maybe the gel for the story might be secondary, but the director has been given full creative license. That simply tells us this will be a uniquely entertaining movie that will have a wider appeal.

OKJA is set for a release on Netflix globally including here in UK&Ireland on 28th June, starring Tilda Swinton, Jake Gyllenhaal, Paul Dano, Giancarlo Esposito, Steven Yeun, Lily Collins and newcomer Seo Hyun An.
