After month’s wondering if we would ever get a UK trailer for Peter Berg’s Patriot’s Day, we finally got one a few days before Christmas Day. Two weeks on we now have a second Trailer and a trailer that shows we have a powerful movie on the cards that hopes to engage us on all levels.

When you base a movie on a true life event you tread on eggshells not offend or accuse but one of respect. After delivering an hellhole in Lone Survivor, to more recently tension filled oilfields of Deepwater Horizon. In Patriots Day Peter Berg will be hoping to showcase the heroes behind the Boston Marathon 2013 attack, But will it be a movie that will show respect or one of distaste?

In the aftermath of an unspeakable act of terror, Police Sergeant TOMMY SAUNDERS (Mark Wahlberg) joins forces with courageous survivors, first responders and investigators in a race against the clock to hunt down the bombers before they strike again. Weaving together the stories of Special Agent RICHARD DESLAURIERS (Kevin Bacon), Police Commissioner ED DAVIS (John Goodman), Sergeant JEFFREY PUGLIESE (J.K. Simmons) and nurse CAROL SAUNDERS (Michelle Monaghan) this visceral and unflinching chronicle captures the intensity and edge-of-the-seat suspense that riveted the world.

Critically from Stateside the movie has delivered but been from the other side of The Atlantic Ocean my experience is through the news channels and newspapers. Not always the complete picture as we don’t always get a sense of tension and some survivors families from the day have raised these concerns.

In the trailer, you get a glimpse of the police operations with Kevin Bacon‘s character Special Agent Richard DesLauriers and Police Commissioner Ed Davis (John Goodman)having to make a quick decision. It leaves you thinking were they premature or right to move so quickly. The world is a scary place and sometimes one way to defeat it is human spirit something this movie hopes to showcase.

Patriot’s Day is set for a 23rd February 2017 UK&Irish release date (out today 21st December in the USA).
