Joel Edgerton’s Character The Focus In New Loving Featurette

Love is colour blind. If you’re meant to be together like in Jeff Nicholl‘s Oscar-nominated Loving, which Richard and Mildred Loving a man who marries his childhood sweetheart. This may sound like nothing spectacular but this story in set in 1960’s, Mildred was a black woman.

Ahead of this Friday’s UK & Irish release of Loving, after last week’s promo on Mildred (Ruth Negga) Universal Pictures has released a new video on Richard.Played by Joel Edgerton the actor, Negga and Nicholls all discuss Richard’s characterisations. The courage, the fight Richard had to marry and love for his childhood sweetheart and right to live together.

Loving celebrates the real-life courage and commitment of an interracial couple, Richard and Mildred Loving, who married and then spent the next nine years fighting for the right to live as a family in their hometown. Their civil rights case, Loving v. Virginia, went all the way to the Supreme Court, which in 1967 reaffirmed the very foundation of the right to marry – making their love story an inspiration to couples everywhere.

Loving is set for 3rd February UK cinema release and co-stars Nick Kroll, Michael Shannon.
