Let’s be honest last week’s Oscar Nominations didn’t just disappoint (too many nominations for La La Land)but we were delighted that Hidden Figures grabbed a few nominations. To celebrate the highly anticipated release of Oscar Nominated movie (‘Best Adapted Screenplay’, ‘Best Supporting Actress’ and ‘Best Picture’) we have a few clips and behind the scenes featurettes for your visual entertainment.

First up we have a clip entitled ‘Make You First‘, which we see Mary Jackson (Janelle Monae)making a stand against the segregation in the state of Virginia. Fighting for her right to an education…

In the next video a featurette that showcases real ‘Hidden Figures’ and today it’s Monica Grady.Waht we learn about Monica Grady, she is a professor of Planetary and Space Sciences at the Open University, shares her own story of science and how Katherine Johnson has inspired and impacted her life.

Unfortunately, January hasn’t been a good month personally with family illness and no matter what family always comes first. Sadly a few things were missed however luckily this post has given us a chance to share a couple of more exciting promos for this movie. First up is a clip entitled ‘Russian Spy‘ which features Katherine, played by Taraji P. Henson, explaining that she is not a Russian spy.

Our regular readers will know we are big fans of music in movies and it’s vital role to that movie. In the ‘Hidden Figures: Harmonies’ featurette, we learn more about the music behind the movie with interviews from the film’s producer and music composer Pharrell Williams, along with Hans Zimmer and the award-winning musician Herbie Hancock.

HIDDEN FIGURES is the incredible untold story of Katherine Johnson (Taraji P. Henson), Dorothy Vaughn (Octavia Spencer) and Mary Jackson (Janelle Monáe)—brilliant African-American women working at NASA, who served as the brains behind one of the greatest operations in history: the launch of astronaut John Glenn into orbit, a stunning achievement that restored the nation’s confidence, turned around the Space Race, and galvanised the world. The visionary trio crossed all gender and race lines to inspire generations to dream big.

Hidden Figures stars Taraji P. Henson, Octavia Spencer, Janelle Monáe, Kirsten Dunst, Jim Parsons, Mahershala Ali, Aldis Hodge, Glen Powell and Kevin Costner and is directed by Theodore Melfi.

Movie arrives in UK & Ireland 17th February.
