Whilst the wait continues to see if The Weinstein’s will ever officially release Snowpiercer in UK& Ireland in cinemas or home release, we get a first look at his next movie Okja. What we can say is Boon Jong-Ho‘s upcoming flick will thankfully be released here thanks to Netflix, as part of their ‘Netflix Originals‘ in 2017. The movie is been described as a bold and thrilling global adventure and when you look at the line-up includes Tilda Swinton, Jake Gyllenhaal and Steven Yeun.
Whatever you do do not call Boon Jong-Ho’s movie a ‘monster movie’.The Korean director told EW he would prefer “a very shy and introverted animal. It’s a unique animal that we’ve not seen before.”
Netflix official synopsis describes Okja follows Mija (Ahn Seo-hyun), a young girl who must risk everything to prevent a powerful, multi-national company from kidnapping her best friend – a massive animal named ‘Okja’.
Check out the first images we’ve been sent which show off Mija (Ahn Seo-hyun) the protagonist of the movie, and Red (Lily Collins) who plays an animal activist. Accompanying both images is a storyboard of Red in action…
Okja stars Tilda Swinton (Hail, Caesar!), Jake Gyllenhaal (Nightcrawler), Paul Dano (Love & Mercy), Lily Collins (Rules Don’t Apply), Steven Yeun (The Walking Dead), Shirley Henderson (Trainspotting) and Giancarlo Esposito (Breaking Bad). No official date released apart from Summer 2017.
