In 3 weeks time, Season 2 of The Man In The High Castle will be launched on Amazon Prime and we’ve been sent a spanking new clip which shows off a big reveal. Yes, we finally meet that man in the high castle and it’s Stephen Root!
Today Amazon Prime Video announced Stephen Root is ‘The Man‘,the mysterious character that’s behind the title role of the Emmy award-winning original drama series. The clip is short and sweet but as you see he has a lot of old film reels.Root will be familiar to many of you from Boardwalk Empire, Selma, Office Space to name a few, a fantastic character actor. ‘The Man’ he’s full of mystery but also seen as a messiah by some and a bit of a ‘whack-job’ by others. But does he know he could be the leader of the revolution that’s brewing in the background?
Season two resumes with Juliana Crain (Davalos) facing the consequences of her decision to betray the Resistance and allow Joe Blake (Kleintank), a suspected Nazi agent, to escape the Pacific States with a film originally bound for the Man in the High Castle. Joe himself returns a hero to the Reich and finds himself thrust into the Nazi capital of Berlin, face to face with the father who abandoned him. Meanwhile, Frank Frink (Rupert Evans) becomes increasingly radicalised and drawn further into the resistance after seeing images of his own execution in the mysterious films.
With political tensions mounting between Germany and Japan, Trade Minister Tagomi (Tagawa) begins to regret his success in smuggling nuclear technology from the Reich and seeks solace in the strange new world he discovered at the end of season one. Meanwhile, Obergruppenführer John Smith (Sewell) struggles to reconcile the values of the Reich with the deteriorating health of his son— all while tasked with a mission from the Fuhrer for which failure is not an option. And Chief Inspector Kido (De La Fuente) begins to take greater interest in the Man in the High Castle, the films, and how Juliana Crain is connected to it all.
Unfortunately, I haven’t seen any of the TV Show however I have read the book and it seems Season was kept very close to the book. However it seems season 2 seems to be leaning more towards science fiction than alternate histories, suggesting the origins of The Man might not be earthly.
The Man In The High Castle Season 2 will debut on Amazon Prime Video from 16th December and will star Alexa Davalos, Rupert Evans, Luke Kleintank, DJ Qualls, Joel de la Fuente, Brennan Brown, Bella Heathcote, Callum Keith Rennie, Cary-Hiroyuki Tagawa, and Rufus Sewell.
