Just over 10 days ago we got that’Friday Feeling’ when we enjoyed the UK trailer for Damien Chazelle‘s ode to the classic Hollywood musical with a modern twist. Today we go behind the scenes in a brand new spanking Featurette and see why this is hotting up to be one of the must-see movies for 2017! There’s also never before seen footage too!
This new promo takes us behind the scenes and with an insight into how the magic was made. The cast and crew share their thoughts on making the movie, the experiences they had making it too. Did you know Ryan Gosling had to learn to play the piano for the role? Musician /actor John Legend couldn’t play the guitar until he starred in La La Land?
Written and directed by Academy Award® nominee Damien Chazelle, LA LA LAND tells the story of Mia [Emma Stone], an aspiring actress, and Sebastian [Ryan Gosling], a dedicated jazz musician, who are struggling to make ends meet in a city known for crushing hopes and breaking hearts. Set in modern day Los Angeles, this original musical about everyday life explores the joy and pain of pursuing your dreams.
Mr Gosling wanted his Fred Astaire/Ginger Rogers type move and if you follow the hype it looks like his desire has come true. It also shows Chazelle has conquered the second movie blues and delivered what looks like a fantastic with as much drama and emotion as Whiplash. Instead of a struggling talented musician, it’s 2 struggling artists in the cutthroat world of Hollywood.
This may echo The Artist, but what makes this and that Oscar-winning movie different is this will attract a mainstream audience if it has arthouse writer all over it.
La La Land will dance into your heart when it arrives in UK&Irish cinemas from 12th January 2017 (USA limited 9th, full release 16th December). The movie also stars John Legend, Rosemarie DeWitt, Finn Wittrock, Callie Hernandez, Sonoya Mizuno, Jessica Rothe, Tom Everett Scott, Josh Pence.
