In just over 2 weeks time Fantastic Beasts And Where To Find Them will finally be unleashed on the cinematic masses and it seems it has an unannounced cameo. Hollywood Reporter is reporting Johnny Depp is to make a cameo appearance in the movie , a role that Warner Bros are not telling us, as he’s set to star in the second movie too.

Eddie Redmayne as magizoologist Newt Scamander, who is making his way to the Magical Congress of the United States of America in the 1920s when his magical beasts escape from his expanding briefcase.

It seems the role is a brief one, so viewers will have to be ‘Eagle-eyed’ to spot him and the world of witchcraft and wizardry looks a perfect match. Many of his previous roles have been playing ¬†fantastical characters like Captain Jack Sparrow, Edward Scissorhands, so any chance to hide behind the makeup or prosthetics he’ll jump at. Director David Yates revealed¬† Gellert Grindelwald will play a major role in the movie, could this be Johnny Depp? or could he be Dumbledore?

With the role he’ll play under tight security ¬†it’s really hard to pin down what character he may play and if the role was Gellert, the cameo maybe a reference to the upcoming first movie rather than the second movie. With the exception of Black Mass, it hasn’t been a great time to be Johnny Depp. Sadly Alice Through The Looking Glass failed to deliver the goods, The Lone Ranger was ‘Hi-ho nothing’ with The Pirates of The Caribbean been getting too close the end of the plank to fall off. The question is, does Depp still attract the audiences at the box office? With this been a Harry Potter spin -off from JK Rowling do they really need the likes of Depp in the cast?

The world is going to get even bigger in movie 2, could Johnny Depp‘s name attached to a potential good franchise ruin those hopes or deliver much extra magic?

Fantastic Beasts And Where To Find Them 2 already has a set release date of 16th November 2018 with David Yates returning to direct.
