For 13 long years, Kate Beckinsale has been the deepest fantasies of many young adolescent Boys in her all leather clad as Vampire warrior Selene. In 2017 she will be in their dreams once again as she’s back in the fight in Underworld:Blood Wars and here’s the UK Trailer

The Vampires Vs. Werewolves is a battle as old as time, the fifth instalment (originally meant to be a reboot) will see the blood wars start again. New director Anna Foerster (Outlander) but a very familiar storyline.

In Underworld: Blood Wars we once again follow Vampire death dealer, Selene (Kate Beckinsale) as she fends off brutal attacks from both the Lycan clan and the Vampire faction that betrayed her. With her only allies, David (Theo James) and his father Thomas (Charles Dance), she must stop the eternal war between Lycans and Vampires, even if it means she has to make the ultimate sacrifice.

This looks a lot like the trailer that was posted online over the weekend for New York Comic Con. It does show the ethos of the franchise hasn’t changed much over the years, with more narrative especially for Selene. We don’t know exactly what time period this film is in but Selene’s daughter seems to be missing and as we learned in the last film Selene has the power to see her. This time, she can’t but why?

The Underworld franchise may not break Box Office records but when you create a film that takes £60million to million and triples that at the box office you know there will be a sequel in the works. The trailer does look reveal a lot of the movie but that’s just been the marketing style from day one for this franchise and designed for the fans. Selene herself has more new powers, all we’ll say if you’re a Lycan or even an enemy vampire don’t step in her path or you’ll be dead in seconds! This war is personal!

Underworld: Blood Wars is set for a UK&Irish release of 3rd February 2017 with Lara Pulver,Tobias Menzies,Bradley James and James Faulkner also starring.
