After many years working with Johnny Depp anyone will be in need of some needed wellness. For Gore Verbinski‘s cure, he heads back to the horror genre with A Cure For Wellness and 20th Century Fox Pictures  have sent us the movie’s first UK trailer

After a decade of pirates, animated talking lizards, Mexicans and a very disappointing Lone Ranger, Verbinski goes back to the genre he found success with The Ring remake. In the movie’s first promo we may not get many clues on the storyline. However what we have is a creepy, atmospheric psychological tease that might make you think twice if you have booked a Spa treatment. Now say ‘Hello!’ to Jason Issacs.

In A Cure For Wellness,we meet  an ambitious young executive (Dane Dehaan) is sent to retrieve his company’s CEO from an idyllic but mysterious ‘wellness centre’ at a remote location in the Swiss Alps. He soon suspects that the spa’s miraculous treatments are not what they seem. When he begins to unravel its terrifying secrets, his sanity is tested, as he finds himself diagnosed with the same curious illness that keeps all the guests here longing for the cure.

When we look back at horrors especially remakes The Ring (Hollywood remake of the classic J-Horror Ringu) was one of those better adaptations. So as a director in the  genre we can say we’re in safe hands. The tone  very unsettling , gothic a little but also a tone that reminds me of Martin Scorsese’s Shutter Island. Very intense, deeply mysterious even a little character driven. So will this be another movie that asks who is really sick or does the centre hold even deeper darker secrets?

A Cure For Wellness doesn’t have an exact release date confirmed for UK&Ireland apart from ‘out 2017’.17th February 2017 is the USA release so don’t be surprised if it’s the same or around (24th) March time. The movie also stars Mia Goth, Celia Imrie and Jason Issacs.
