I remember once been told “Your wee boy son, your eyes should never witness anything blue”. There is one set of iconic characters that are blue and today Sony Pictures unveil The Smurfs:Lost Village first UK Trailer. After several disappointing live action films we head back to a fully animated feature As Peyo’s little blue creatures have a whole new world out there to explore!

In this fully animated, all-new take on the Smurfs,The Smurfs: Lost Village  a mysterious map sets Smurfette and her best friends Brainy, Clumsy and Hefty on an exciting and thrilling race through the Forbidden Forest filled with magical creatures to find a mysterious lost village before the evil wizard Gargamel does. Embarking on a rollercoaster journey full of action and danger, the Smurfs are on a course that leads to the discovery of the biggest secret in Smurf history!

Sony Animation may not have the success of the likes of Disney, Pixar, Laika or even the same status but I’m sure they will try to be there whereabouts. Hotel Transylvania films have been the Sony’s only success in the animation sectors so taking The Smurfs back to animation will be a better chance of success. The Smurfs 2 live action films at the box office where success but where destroyed critically. In a way this is a animated reboot with the trailer playing like a teaser re-introducing the characters, Whilst this looks more focused just for the kids, the big kids will love this too as it arcs back to iconic characters many generations of families grew up loving. This adventure looks very Smurfette-centric story, our only puzzling moment is the choice of the music. The use of Ludarcris and his song ‘Get Back‘ just feels right out of place, is it also music aimed at the film’s targeted audience? Judge for yourselves.

The Smurfs: Lost Village is set for March 2017 release date in UK&Ireland and will star the voices of Demi Lovato (Smurfette),Rainn Wilson (Gargamel),Joe Manganiello (Hefty),Jack McBrayer (Clumsy),Danny Pudi (Brainy)with Mandy Patinkin (Papa Smurf).
